Our Journey to Sobriety and Brotherhood

Step Brothers Retreat was formed after a group of recovering alcoholics attended the Usual Suspects Retreat in Nashville, TN. The experience moved them so much that they wanted to bring it home and share it with their brothers in recovery across DC, Maryland, and Virginia. A committee was formed, and the rest is history.

Our first retreat was June 12 to 15, 2015. Our inaugural retreat leaders were Scott L. from Nashville, TN and Joe C. from Palm Coast, FL. These men opened their hearts in a way that set the tone for the next 10 years, and God willing, many more to come.

We are not affiliated with any 12-step organization. We do, however, use the Steps and Traditions to guide our retreat. Each year, we begin by carrying the message into institutions the morning before we convene.

Our retreat is limited to 70 men. Our goal is an intimate experience where we can grow in understanding and effectiveness, build real relationships, and leave better than we came.

We hope that you’ll leave Step Brothers with an overwhelming desire to share it with others. We are eager to share our model. Over the years, we’ve been to retreats all over the country and borrowed the best from each to create an atmosphere of transformation. As a result, we’ve played a part in retreats being formed across the country, including Outright Mental Defectives in Oklahoma, Brothers in our Defects in Florida, Lost & Found in New York, Rule 62 in Tennessee, and more.
